Décadence

A Napoleon III tapestry, with its serpentine arabesques, covers the bottom portion. A Swedish chandelier from the end of the 18th Century, its crystal braiding rising above the table with a gold leafed crown. One has the impression that it is floating towards the bottom and yet, mysteriously being pulled upwards at the same time. The arabesques intermingle ‘ton sur ton’ within the tapestry under our feet. The result is like fine champagne, an image of luxury and opulence.
